Aerogel / Calcium silicate / Microporous

Aerogel insulation -200°C up to 650°C

Pyrogel and Cryogel (Aerogels) are flexible insulation blankets using patented nanotechnology. Aerogels are made with reinforcing fibres to deliver superior thermal performance at low and high temperature applications. Unique properties as low thermal conductivity, high temperature resistance, passive fire protection, hydrophobic and breathable, soundproofing, robust and easy to apply, have made these products essential for those seeking the ultimate in thermal protection. An ideal insulator!

What is Pyrogel insulation?

Pyrogel® is a patented nanotech technology form of silica aerogel insulation with a non-woven, glass-fibre batting to strengthen the material. The material can be used for high temperature insulation up to 650°C and in fireproofing applications.

What is Cryogel insulation?

Cryogel® is a cryogenic insulation material applicable at temperatures as low as -200°C. Cryogel® insulation blankets are made with a patented nanotech technology form of silica aerogel insulation with a non-woven, glass-fibre batting to strengthen the material.

Aerogel flexible insulation blankets

Insulcon provides two ranges of aerogel insulation; Pyrogel® and Cryogel® products, to cover applications at temperature ranges from cryogenic up to high temperature levels.

Why should you use Pyrogel® and Cryogel® products?

The low thermal conductivity makes the material an obvious choice in thermal management where it offers thin and lightweight configurations. In combination with the other properties the material has to offer plant owners getting access to a material that at the same time also suitable is in all kind of installations:

Pyrogel® HPS - Ultimate thermal performance - best value in high temperature service

  • Optimized for high temperature hydrocarbon & chemical processing
  • Steam pipes
  • Vessels and equipment
  • Gas- and steam turbines
  • Removable blankets

Pyrogel® XTE - Best-in-class CUI protection - best value in medium pressure steam service

  • CUI (Corrosion Under Insulation) defence
  • Medium to high temperarures processes
  • Pipes, vessels and equipment
  • District Energy steam networks
  • Aerospace and defence systems

Pyrogel® XTF - Combined thermal insulation and passive fire protection (hot service)

  • Passive pool fire and passive jet fire protection for industrial and commercial applications
  • Relief system sizing (API 521) This standard is applicable to pressure-relieving and vapor depressuring systems. Although intended for use primarily in oil refineries, it is also applicable to petrochemical facilities, gas plants, liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, and oil and gas production facilities.

Cryogel® Z - the best in cold service

  • Sub-ambient and cryogenic pipelines
  • Vessels and equipment
  • Gas liquefaction & re-gasification facilities

Pyrogel® XTE and Cryogel® Z insulation systems are perfect for combined acoustic and thermal protection.

Example of industries

The materials already have a proven track record in the industries below with new applications being developed and applied in new and existing industries on a regular basis:

Oil & Gas Industry - used by 24 of the world's 25 largest refining companies
(Petro-) Chemical Industry - installed by 20 of the top 20 petrochemical companies
LNG - preferred by LNG (liquefied natural gas) & FLNG (Floating liquefied natural gas) for space-saving design
Power Generation / Waste to Energy - maximum efficiency for power generation
Offshore - thin and durable for pipe applications
Other - such as Automotive and District Energy (networks of hot and cold water pipes, typically buried underground, that are used to efficiently heat and cool buildings using less energy than if the individual buildings were to each have their own boilers and chillers).

The durable, robust nature provides a reusable material that can be easily removed for inspection and maintenance and reapplied after completion of the work.

Tailor-made products

Insulcon disposes of state-of-the-art machinery, such as CNC controlled water jet cutting machines, to deliver all your products tailored to your specific application and requirements with our in-house engineering department fully equipped to support you in determining the desired dimensions and designs. Insulcon has successfully supplied many projects with tailor-made aerogel applications intended for the insulation of such as straight pipes, elbows, T-pieces, reducers, flanges, valves, vessels and other equipment, with the advantage of better packing efficiency, and quickly taped in place.
